Please support Stratford-upon-Avon Biodiversity ‘Action Station’

We are creating a biodiversity education area at Stratford upon Avon central train station. This is a community project that will teach both children and adults about biodiversity, encouraging them to use what they learn to replicate it in their gardens and other green spaces so that we may create wonderful biodiversity corridors across the town.

This is a very central location so it will be very visible to both local residents and tourists who use the station as well as people who use the Alcester road for a variety of reasons including local residents, Bishopton primary school children, the High school children, Stratford College students and many elderly residents in the new tall building close to the site. The road bridge over the railway looks down onto the site, it is the steep slope right outside the main entrance to the station.

It’s going to be a wonderful place for people to get involved in, offering education, physical exercise, social interaction, companionship, fresh air, inspiration and purpose. We are getting in touch to ask if you would like to take part in the project in some way, this can be as an individual or as a group or as an organisation. There are a range of things you can do to help and at this stage we just need to get an idea of who is interested in terms of numbers, preferences and timings so that we can accommodate everyone effectively.

At the moment the site is scrubland that needs to be cleared and then rebuilt to create several tiers for planting on. Then in the spring/summer over 250 local primary school children will be able to come and plant it as part of their involvement in the SSSP programme
